Women are women and they like men. Men are men and they like women.

Simple?

NO.

Homosexual, Transsexual and Transgender people exist. Always have, always will.

They are simply people. People who deserve to be treated equally.

This series of photographs is dedicated to the modern day transgender spokes woman Julie Vu, who is fearlessly educating the world via her Youtube channel and inspiring all those who feel different, out of place or unaccepted.

Help close the door on the past and inacceptance.

The future is bright.

The Life of Pompeii

Growing up around a marble memorial for the victims of Pompeii,  I always saw it as a statue of get saddness and fear.

I wanted to give these memorative statues a new lease on life, and give them a relevance in the contemporary world.

By placing my own face directly over the top of these marble statues, I have created a link between the past and present.

I intentionally did not alter the statue or my own face to match each other, which resulted in a huge shock. At least one part of my face matched up perfectly with each of the marble faces beneath. While this shook me at first, it gave me a closer connection to those individuals who lost their lives in Pompeii. By not blending the two images together seemlessly, I wanted to show the two time periods clearly, and at the same time the similarities that still exist two thousand years later.

Everybody should be allowed to grow and change into the individual they want to be, with their own unique qualities, beliefs and characteristics. They don't need the media or others telling them to fit the 'mould' or be the same as others so they will be accepted. It's individuality that sets us all apart. It makes life interesting and inspires us all.

Mother Nature has this amazing ability to constantly change, flourish and grow without being forced or influenced, and look at the amazing and beautiful results! The feminine form deserves to be embraced and given strength to be its self; unique and wonderful.

The intertwined aspects of nature and the female form express how strong, resilient and individual everyone can be, and how we all have the capability to grow and change as people.
